20 Acres

I'm posting about my brother, Rhett, because I am just so impressed with his talent.  My parents gave him 20 acres of their land to build a house on.  I am just amazed that he, along with the help of my dad and granddad, have built this house. So the plan is, he and Jessica will live in this house, save money, and this house will be a pool house one day when they build a bigger home.  It's too cute and just perfect for them to start out with!

This will be their view:)  There are 2 ponds.

Papa, working hard, haha.

Honestly, I can't believe Rhett is getting married already in May, plus almost has his house built.  It's just so much fun watching my little brother begin his "grown-up" life!  I can't wait for the wedding festivities to begin soon:)

Happy Fall Y'all!

Wow...who knew buying an old home would involve so much work?  Last weekend, we were blessed with our wonderful parents and Mr. Bobby's help in scraping and painting our house.  Jason had scraped and pressure washed the house before our parents got here, but it just needed much more!  Somehow with all of us working, we finished by Sunday afternoon.  I was very impressed with our work.  Thank goodness for our sweet and caring parents for free labor.

Check it out.  I was so excited that the man who restored our home had an account saved at Sherwin Williams for us to use the exact paint colors.  We really wanted to keep it the same and we did.

We also got a new roof last week.  Our house itself on the outside is in pretty good shape...now it's just finishing the landscape and fence.  Oh the wonderful world of old homes and Christmas tours:)

I had to bring out his pumpkin shirt:)

The finished project...wow:)

Our Sunday morning started out like this.  Jason was able to get it off with Windex.  We thought it was spray paint, but not sure.  Silly kids!

Newest Addition

My crafty father decided to surprise Jason and I last time we were home with a bar for our back deck.  We wanted something to fill in a corner space to be able to display food, drinks, etc.  when entertaining.  Apparently the last time he was here, he measured and started on building it several weeks ago.  Well, he finished it on Tuesday night for us because we are hosting a tailgate engagement shower this weekend.  He knew I really wanted to have it and he was so sweet to stay up until 10:00 to finish it.  On top of that, he met Jason half way and brought it to us!  Thanks, Dad.  We love it and I can't wait to display my Auburn platters with lots of goodies on them Saturday.

P.S.  I just got really excited...Jason got my Fall storage box out of the attic and my house is looking GOOD!  Yea!  Fall is my favorite time of year, then Christmas:)

Now we just need stools:0

Backyard

Jason completed our backyard landscaping around our deck last week while I was inside for a hour tutoring session. I was so happy to come out and see this:)  Pretty awesome landscaper/husbandl, huh?

Project # 2...Check!

We added our deck sometime around Christmas last year, but had to wait to stain it.  This was another project that I'm so happy to see completed.  I'm hosting a party next week at my house and it has given us great motivation to finish a few of the quick projects.

Before: He had just started:)
After: I'm so happy with the stain we chose.  We decided to go with it because it matches our shutters.  Thank you, Jason!!

Project # 1

Jason and I have had few projects on our to do list, but honestly haven't been home enough this summer to complete any of them.  Today, Jason was able to complete one of them.  He turned this...

The yucky green that was showing through on our porch.  I had scrubbed it the day before, making it come off even more.

Into...this!  I love it!  It's hard to tell the color of this, but it is tan, with specks of brown and cream in it.  It looks so much better and the color goes better with our house.  Thank you sweetie:)

While Jason was working on this project, I was able to baby-sit and pay for this home improvement:)  Wa lah...how clever am I!!  I have definitely decided that if I am blessed with children and have to have all of one gender, it should be boys.  I kept a little boy that was in my class last year (age 6) and his two twin brothers (age 5).  It was so much fun!  Boys are so laid back and easy to work with.  This sums up my awesome day!

At Shakey's Pizza...they couldn't reach the pedals hence why they are so close to the steering wheel:)

They had to have a snack after swimming...just precious.
The twins on their own little four wheelers.  The oldest was driving me on the golf cart, ha...to the pool.
Ice Cream at Brewster's to end the night.  Ice cream was everywhere:0

Spring Fever

Jason and I were so excited to work out in the yard on this beautiful day! Since he is always working on his clients' landscape, we have to work on ours when he has time off.

Jason and Mr. Bobby's project: Our new privacy fence

Work in progress...
The next few pictures are of the front landscape. Jason decided to put rocks along the front of our beds. There were bricks there from the previous owners. We feel like this gives the beds more definition:)

I actually used the wheelbarrow and picked up a lot of the rocks by MYSELF and carried them to Jason to arrange the way he wanted. I also used the push mower to mow our front lawn. I have only mowed our grass one other time. I really enjoy helping Jason in the yard; I just need lots of guidance and instruction. It makes me feel good to be apart of his beautiful work.

Spring is just one of my favorite times of year. Look how beautiful our azaleas are right now! I am so thankful to have a husband who works so hard to keep our yard looking spectacular:)
